Well, at least I was before I became a Pet Boss and founded Pet Boss Nation.Okay wait, I’ll always be a Dogaholic, because Dogaholics is my consumer brand (retail, grooming, daycare, boarding, and more) and now, I’ve taken all I’ve learned over the last 15 years and I help pet business professionals move from their passion for pets to being profitable “Pet Bosses”!
In only sixteen months, Pet Boss Nation become a multiple six figure business, but more importantly a community of thousands of pet retailers and boutiques, grooming salons, doggy daycares, dog trainers, manufacturers, distributors, sales reps, photographers, bloggers, walkers, sitters, healers… you name it and they are bound to be in our network of Pet Bosses - connecting, sharing and pushing themselves to do better.
What’s make me a successful leader and influencer in the pet industry in such a short amount of time, is that I get what you’re going through. I am one of you. I care about you. You can trust me. I understand the roller coaster of entrepreneurship, heck, I’ve been on that ride for almost two decades, but what’s different about me, is that I’ve turned obstacles into opportunities - from failing to scaling, broke to naming my price and selling businesses, and from chained to my store front to traveling the world. Michelle Nelson is a forward-thinking retail expert who turned her passion and dreams into success and reality. Through hard work and perseverance Michelle has built a million dollar pet retail business from ground zero. Having survived the rise and fall of five other pet stores in the small community of Albert Lea, MN, she understands the daily struggles that retail owners face when competing against big-box retailers and online retail giants.
We’re lucky to have her as an Official Pet Boss Nation Mentor! Michelle is passionate about helping her fellow retailers successfully navigate the daily struggles of managing employees, inventory management, marketing, developing systems, cash flow and so much more.
Chris is the owner of Atlantic Pet Sitting in Myrtle Beach, SC. In 2014, Chris and his wife, Amanda, found a dog while camping in remote South Carolina. After a few weeks, they discovered it was impossible to find reliable pet care while they were traveling for their dog Coleman. By early 2015, Atlantic Pet Sitting was born to create a pet sitting company who was trustworthy, on time, dependable, professional, and affectionate towards pets. In 2019, Atlantic Pet Sitting has progressed to a six-figure pet sitting business and has 22 pet sitters on staff. Chris has grown APS by relationship marketing, referrals, and his personal favorite...online marketing.
Chris and his wife love spending time with their son Landon, 2 cats (Zoey, Yogi), and their dog Coleman. In 2018, Chris and Amanda co-founded Four Pedal Films which specializes in small business video production and wedding films.
Alysa is quite familiar with terms like “behavior management” and “positive reinforcement.” She has a doctorate in Clinical Psychology, specializing in children, and currently works as the Director of Psychological Services for a large social service organization, as well as a consultant in the Clinical Division of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Alysa has been a lifelong camper and outdoor enthusiast with decades of experience working in and consulting to children's summer camps. In 2001, Alysa combined her passion for dogs and love of summer camp to create Camp Dogwood, an overnight camp that brings the “joy of camp” to dogs and their human companions.
Alysa shares her life with Stella Blue, an aussie-mix and Al Edelman, her husband (Trivia: Alysa and Al met while working at Camp Chi, the very place where Camp Pet Boss is).
Dani was born into a dog enriched household and started out in the world of show dogs and competition training. She’s studied dog training under notables Karen Pryor, Ian Dunbar and Bob & Marion Bailey and has most recently completed a two year program with Jean Donaldson’s Academy for Dog Trainers. Dani is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer with a Certification in Training and Counseling from the Academy.
After many years of dog training on the side of a career in the art world, Dani opened A Place for Paws, a doggy daycare and training facility in 1999 in Ohio. Soon after that, she started to manufacture raw food and single ingredient treats for local distribution. Then two years ago, she purchased an existing brick and mortar pet business, now called Paws on Main.
There was no magic bullet for coast-to-coast business and sales strategist, Tiffany Largie. She went from being a single mom to building three six-figure businesses, and on to a seven-figure business by the age of 30. Tiffany began with no capital but sheer hard work and determination. Today she helps people create the income, influence, and impact they dream of. She's the creator of Onwards to Freedom, a group which offers business training and support to idea-driven entrepreneurs. She speaks around the world on sales strategy, entrepreneurship, and profit building. She has dedicated her life to end small thinking worldwide.
